A complete of two,100 ladies from throughout Britain took half within the survey and over 63 per cent of respondents felt pressurised by others to eat bigger meals.

Professor Janice Rymer, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, mentioned: “Eating an excessive amount of throughout being pregnant and placing on an excessive amount of weight may be detrimental to each mom and child.

“Women who’re chubby throughout being pregnant are at an elevated danger of getting a miscarriage and creating situations resembling gestational diabetes, hypertension and pre-eclampsia.

“In addition, overweight women have bigger babies who are themselves more likely to become obese and have significant health problems as a result.”

More than 85 per cent of respondents mentioned they didn’t know what number of further energy to devour throughout being pregnant.

Alex Davis, from the National Charity Partnership which commissioned the ballot, mentioned: “The ‘eating for two’ myth has been around for years, but it’s very unhelpful.”
