Mom Crush Monday: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Published on

With things like actress, producer, entrepreneur, wife, and mother of two on her resume, there’s no reason to explain why we’re impressed with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

She’s most recognized for her role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, obviously, but we also loved her in Cruel Intentions and All My Children. And Gellar is anything but “just” a talented actress.

She just celebrated 13 years of marriage to actor Freddie Prinze Jr. (they met on the set of I know What You Did Last Summer), whom she has two adorable children with:Charlotte Grace, 5, and Rocky James, 2.

She also recently started a company, alongside friends Gia Russo and Galit Laibow, called Foodstirs, which encourages busy parents to order fun, easy-to-make baking kits so they can create everlasting memories with their children.

For this week’s Mom Crush Monday, we’re celebrating Sarah Michelle Gellar and getting her take on family, baking, and so much more.

On chatting with her daughter …

On one thing she wishes she knew before having kids …

Gellar told Babble, “The joy they would bring. I always knew I wanted kids, but I never fully realized just how amazing it would be until I had them.”

On a surprising run in during kindergarten pick-up …

On something she hides from her kids …

Cruel Intentions.

On giving birth …

Gellar told Buzzfeed, “Get to the hospital on time. I didn’t. I was busy doing drop-off. I got to the hospital at 4:09, and my son was born at 4:15.”

On her first cooking experience …

On one thing she swore she’d never do before having kids …

“Use my finger to wipe smudges from their faces.”

On making lunch time special for her kids …

On the weirdest thing she’s found in her kid’s backpack …

“Dead bugs.”

On preventing her kids from being picky eaters …

On her parenting motto …

“Trust yourself, and go with your gut. Trust that you know what’s best for your kids.”

On remembering her body before baby …

On being present for her family …

On cooking with her kids …

On the three things she can’t live without …

“Coffee, family, and books.”

On how she feels about being a mom …

Gellar once gushed to the LA Times, “I don’t want to feel like a failure to my daughter. She’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Buffy — pretty great and all, but Charlotte’s way better”
