The most compassionate parents will always go above and beyond to make sure their children are taken care of and given every opportunity they deserve.
For Michigan mother Tarra Parks, that meant standing on the side of a road, begging strangers for money. But her family isn’t homeless or starving.
However, they are in dire need of funding to get medical treatment for their little girl, Elaina, who suffers from spina bifida. She was born with a hole in her spine that has required several hospital visits over the years.
Unfortunately, their insurance refused to pay $10,000 for Elaina’s hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Tarra is determined to not let that stop her little girl from receiving the treatment.
As she says in the clip below, she is willing to do whatever it takes to raise the funds herself. The family also set up a YouCaring account for those willing to donate.
Now 10 years old, Elaina’s biggest issue is the lack of feeling in her bladder and bowels. Now that she’s older, she’s nearly outgrown toddler-sized diapers. Yet she is still too small for adult sizes. Using a catheter would require assistance and make the young girl feel even more awkward.
That’s exactly why the Parks family hopes this treatment can help have an easier time coping.
