When I was prepping for Marlowe’s arrival, I knew next to nothing about baby preparedness. I had heard of registries, of course, but I had absolutely no idea what to put on mine. Certain things sounded a little excessive, while other items seemed like total no-brainers. And most of the stuff I ended up never using! I definitely “over registered” for tons of useless items (hello, wipe warmers), and I really figured out my must-haves once Marlowe arrived.
Not all baby paraphernalia is created equal. I have been passing along my lists of baby must-haves to all of my friends, and now I want to share them with you!
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
I registered for this as an afterthought, and it ended up being such a lifesaver. Marlowe loved sitting in it, and it didn’t over-stimulate her with too many lights or movements. It comes in a variety of beautifully neutral colors as well as folds up into nothing, so you can stash it away — I even traveled with it in my suitcase!
These burp cloths are amazing because they are so soft and substantial, have adorable patterns, and cover a large surface area. As a mom to an infant with terrible reflux, I was very grateful to have a (little bit) less puke get all over me! They also transition to the perfect bib for starting solids.
I’ve used this sound machine for Marlowe’s bedtime and nap routine since she was an infant. It drowns out ambient noise and is packable for traveling. We’ve had dinner parties at our house after she’s gone to bed, and she stays asleep!
This travel crib is the best one I’ve personally seen when it comes to getting it set up quickly and packed away easily. We bring it wherever we travel, and Marlowe even sleeps in it happily in our bedroom when we have guests staying overnight.
This has become one of my favorite baby items EVER. It’s an easily portable high chair that attaches to any table and makes eating out with a baby a breeze. Plus, no scary holes for babies to fall through in typical restaurant-supplied options!
These bottles are gorgeous to look at but are also made out of medical-grade silicone, which makes them totally BPA and phthalate free! The squishy texture is reminiscent of the breast, which makes the transition to the bottle much easier, in my humble experience.
Somebody told me when I was pregnant that this pump is the cream of the crop, and I totally agree. It’s easy to use, small, and can attach to your pants so you can walk around with it while pumping. It even comes with a little cooler to store pumped milk. Just make sure to get a pumping bra too, to make life a lot easier while pumping on the go!
I have used this machine almost every day since Marlowe was 4 months old! I use it to make all her food from scratch, and with its steam and purée technology, saving money on store-bought baby food is a breeze. Easy to clean, too. For some creative recipes, visit my site!
This is one toy that is worth having in your arsenal right away. I happened to have an infant who absolutely hated tummy time, but once I bought this fun cube, she began to progress immediately. She still plays with it to this day, and my husband and I laugh so much singing the silly songs to one another.
