A Flushable, Foldable, and Private Pregnancy Test? ….It’s Coming.

In the past 30 years, little has been done to change pregnancy tests. Sure, some of them now give you a plus sign or digital reading – but that’s not really innovative.

Well, the game is about to change.

Lia Diagnostics is currently developing a new pregnancy test that you can fold and put in your pocket. It will be shipped to you discreetly in an envelope. After its use, you’ll be able to flush it down the toilet. All without anyone knowing what just happened.

When asked about the lack of innovation for the pregnancy test, Bethany Edwards, CEO of Lia Diagnostics and one fourth of the creators of this test says, “the product design was basically exactly the same.”

Despite being in its early stages, Bethany and her team are making huge strides. Just last month they were awarded $15,000 in an innovation competition hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration. And while the notoriety is great, the risk is there for bigger companies to steal their idea.

In fact, some big name pregnancy test companies have already contacted them, but they’ve gracefully declined offers to work together.

The Philadelphia start-up company is working hard to get this new test on the market sometime between 2016 and 2017. You can read more about this test here.
