The amazing thing about being a trailblazer is that you get to help others follow in your footsteps!

Blake Leeper knows a thing or two about leading the way. As an eight-time international Paralympic track and field medalist, he has set American records three times and is a current world record holder in track and field. In other words, he’s fast — really fast! Especially considering he was born with no legs below the knee. Leeper was fitted for his first prosthetic legs at just 9 months old.

Recently, he went to have some new prostheses fitted so he could gear up for the 2021 Paralympics. While he was at the hospital in Oklahoma City, he spotted a 2-year-old named KJ Dyer, who was taking his very first steps on his new prosthetic leg.

Leeper immediately dropped what he was doing and rushed over to offer the tyke some encouragement, urging him to have fun while putting one foot in front of the other down the hallway. He later shared a video of the sweet moment on Instagram, writing, “This right here is my motivation. I promise to keep grinding and fighting so young KJ will have every opportunity to compete at the highest level!”

What an inspiration! Watch KJ getting advice and encouragement from one of the fastest Paralympic athletes in the world in the video below, and don’t forget to share this story.
